Team: Debbie J & Matt S (2-0) Louise T & Jez (3-0) Penny & Tim (0-3)

Well with a struggle to get a 3rd man to replace Matt B who was working, I asked Leigh to stand in who was happy to do so.

On the day of the match Leigh was struggling with a sore shoulder and wasn't sure if he would be able to play in the match after all so we scrambled round and manager to get 3 men to cover so I wasn't sure who was going to play until I got to the school.

I made the decision to ask Matt Seeley to play with Debbie as I thought that would be the best combination of pairings.

So off we go:

1st pair Debbie and Matt S went on and having never played together in a match before found for straight away to win the 1st game 24-22 having lost the next one 12-21 they set up the decider to narrowly lose out 19-21.

2nd pair Louise T and Jez went on and played their socks off winning 21-8 then losing the next 19-21 to hear Louise say a few choice words including Bugger, to set up the decider.

Meanwhile on the 3rd rubber Penny and Tim  joined forces again to play as a pair only to find they had both forgotten how to play together and quickly lost 13-21,12-21. they sat down in disgust to watch the nail biting 3rd game of Louise and Jez. It was a closely run battle and they managed to secure the rubber winning 21-14.

2-1 up after 1st set of rubbers.

L + J  went on to play their 2nd rubber and won in 2 straight games 21-19 21-18.

P + T went on and made no improvement on their 1st rubber losing 10-21 and 19-21 close but not close enough.

D + M played really well together and won in style 23-21 21-19

3-3 at this point all to play for.

P+ T finally played a little better narrowly losing 1st game 20-22 they seemed to find form in the second winning 21-14 to set up a decider but after being up 18-13 lost out 19-21 bugger.

D + M played their last rubber and went to 3 winning the last one 21-11 well played both.

Then for the nail biting cliffhanger as the match was poised at 4-4

Louise and Jez had lost the 1st game 10-21 then won 21-17 to set up the decider.

After watching Jez running around the court to get all the shots and seeing Lou kill off anything that came back lose,they were nip and tuck all the way.

It was fantastic to watch if not nerve racking to see them take the final game 21-17 and the vital rubber to seal the 5-4 win.

Well played Lou and Jez for winning all 3 and to Debbie and Matt S for winning 2 and standing in for the other players.
