Won
5-4 |
Team: Seb and Tricia D
(3-0), Steve H and Mary (1-2), Harry and Jo (1-2)
This was a hard fought win against a very good Barker's team.
Going into the final 3 rubbers at 4-2 down it required a terrific team
effort to snatch victory. This was a very close match which went right to
the wire with Tricia and Seb winning 3 rubbers, whilst Mary and Steve and Jo
and Harry picked up 1 each.
All in all this was a good start to the season and hopefully we can build
from this.
The next Mixed 2 match is away to WBC1 on Monday 17th October. |

Team: Seb and Tricia

The result suggests an easy win, but it was far from it. Most rubbers were
closely contested but we managed to keep our concentration and get the
result (even with plastic shuttles).
Tricia and Seb kept up their excellent start to the season by again
winning 3 rubbers. Mary and Matt also won 3 with Jo and Harry picking up
the other. The match was won after the first 5 rubbers but nobody eased up
and all gave 100%.
Big thanks to Matt for filling in for Steve who was unavailable for this
one. |

7-2 |
Team: Seb and Tricia
D (3-0), Harry and Jo (3-0), Steve H and Mary (1-2)
Another very good performance from the team. The only downside was that
Steve pulled a muscle in his back during his second rubber and we hope
that he will be ok for the next match.
Tricia and Seb kept the momentum up by winning their 3 rubbers. Jo and
Harry also won their 3 rubbers with Mary and Steve winning the other.
Well done to all. |

Lost 3-6 |
Team: Seb and Tricia
D (3-0), Harry and Penny (0-3), Steve H and Mary (0-3)
This was always going to be a difficult one as Esporta had
come down from division 2 last season.
Tricia and Seb kept up their 100% record by winning the three rubbers.
All the other rubbers were very closely contested and three of those were
taken to 3 games where we only just lost out.
The team actually scored more points than Esporta in the match and with
a little bit of fortune, the result could have been reversed.
Still, it was a very good performance by all and good to see Steve's
back held up well. We now need to look forward to our next match where
hopefully we can get back on track.
Many thanks to Penny for stepping in whilst Jo is off sunning herself
on faraway shores. |

Lost 3-6 |
Team: Seb & Tricia D (3-0), Steve H & Mary (0-3), Harry
& Penny (0-3)
A disappointing result as I feel that all 3 pairs were beatable but
unfortunately on the night it just didn't go right for us. On a positive
note, Tricia and Seb kept up their 100% record and got the 3 rubbers.
Both Mary & Steve and Penny & Harry were unlucky and could have even
snatched it at the end. We now need to pick ourselves up for the next
match and hopefully can get the result.
Thanks again to Penny for playing as Jo was still in the wrong time
zone having just returned. |

Lost 4-5 |
Team: Seb and Tricia D (3-0), Matt and Mary (0-3), Harry
and Jo (1-2)
This was a really frustrating loss as we went into the last 2 rubbers
4-3 up. Both rubbers went to 3 and but unfortunately we couldn't get the
win. Considering the white walls, plastic shuttles (yellow) and the
slippery floor we battled well.
I feel confident we can beat this team at home when we meet for the
return in the new year. Thanks to Matt for standing in at relatively short
notice.
At the end of the year we have had a mixed half to the season having
won 3 and lost 3. |

Won 5-4 |
Team: Seb and Tricia D (3-0), Keith and Mary (0-3), Harry
and Fiona (2-1)
Despite being two regulars short which gave us two changed
partnerships, this was an extremely good win. Ash Green had 2 of the same
pairs we played away with a stronger lady coming in to strengthen up the
third. Tricia and Seb maintained their 100% record after a slight stutter
in their third rubber but showed their determination by turning it around
and getting the win. Mary and Keith played really well having never played
together before (even at club) but unfortunately luck wasn't on their
side. Fiona and Harry fought really hard and picked up the other 2
rubbers.
Thanks to both Keith and Fiona for playing as we were struggling to get
a team together. Both played extremely well and showed great commitment by
playing at very short notice.
Hopefully, this can kick start the season after a run of three losses
and we can consolidate our position in this division. |

Won 8-1 |
Team: Seb and Tricia D (3-0), Harry and Jo (2-1), Matt
and Penny (3-0) A great win away to Barkers to maintain the positive
start to 2006.
Tricia and Seb along with Penny and Matt won all three rubbers whilst
Jo and Harry won two with the third going to 3 against their first pair.
They had a different man playing in their third pair (ex Jubillee) and all
three rubbers against them went to 3 games.
Thanks to Penny and Matt for standing in for Mary (swollen knee) and
Steve (couldn't get in touch with him early enough) to help get the win. |

Won 5-4 |
Team: Seb and Tricia D (3-0), Steve H and Fiona (0-3), Harry
and Jo (2-1)
This was a really tight match going down to the last rubber with the
score tied at 4 all. The rubber inevitably went to 3 to keep everyone on
the edge of their seats. It eventually finished 9-15, 17-14, and 8-15.
Tricia and Seb again won all 3 of their rubbers with Jo and Harry
getting the other 2. Fiona and Steve came really close in all 3 rubbers
with their last, against their 1st pair, going to 3 and being edged out in
the final game 15-12.
Thanks to Fiona for stepping in to cover for Mary who is still out with
a knee problem. |
| Esporta 2 |
Away |
Won 5-4 |
Team: Seb and Tricia D (3-0), Phil and Mary (1-2), Harry
and Jo (1-2)
This result made up for the loss at home (6-3) with Esporta making 3
changes to the side we played earlier in the season. Tricia and Seb won
their 3 rubbers edging a tight one against their 2nd pair in 3. With Phil
playing his first mixed game since his operation and Mary coming back
having been out with knee problems, it took them a little to get going,
but they beat their thirds comfortably and were only just beaten in 3 by
their first pair. Harry and Jo had a good start convincingly beating their
thirds and put up a good fight against their seconds.
It was good to see Mary back in action and fingers crossed her knee
will be ok. Thanks to Phil for playing at short notice to cover for Steve
who has unfortunately been struck down with this bug that's around.
This win should consolidate our second spot in the division with 2
matches remaining. Well done to all, a good team effort. |

Won 6-3 |
Team: Phil and Tricia D (3-0), Seb and Jo (3-0), Harry
and Fiona (0-3)
With
Harry suffering with this flu bug a democratic tactical decision was made
to completely change the pairings to guarantee a win which worked well
with Tricia and Phil winning their three rubbers and Jo and Seb also
winning their three. Fiona and Harry battled bravely and came close
in their three rubbers with one going to 3.
This win should keep us in second spot
with the final match against top of the division Ernsford Grange 1 still
to come. Thanks to Phil for playing and to Fiona for standing in at short
notice for Mary who still has a knee injury. |

Team: Seb and Tricia D (3-0), Steve H and Fiona (0-3), Harry
and Jo (1-2)
The final match of the season against the division leaders was always
going to be a difficult one and in true fighting spirit, it went down to
the last rubber to decide the match. With Steve back we reverted back to
the normal pairings and got off to a good start by winning 2 of the first
3 rubbers. It then went backwards and forwards to 4 rubbers all and it was
all on the last rubber. A slight feeling of deja vous but this time it
went to the opposition.
Tricia and Seb again won all of their three rubbers with Jo and Harry
getting the other. Fiona and Steve battled hard and came close in their
rubbers.
Unfortunately only pride was at stake as the division had already been
decided with Ernsford Grange1 winning it but we did manage to finish
second which should get the team promoted in to division 2 for next
season.
A big thanks and well done to all who played throughout the season.
Next year the team should be stronger and should hopefully do well in
division 2. |
