Won 7-2 |
Team: Leigh & Chris (3-0), Kwai &
Terry
(2-1), Mark & Jon (2-1)
With a couple of reserves called in to cover for one
international traveller and the Chairman who would much rather play in
Stratford with plastics, and with two new members, the team coped very
well. They had a sound 7-2 win against a reasonably strong team. Kwai and
Terry, the new members, paired up to start what we hope will be a pairing
which will go from strength to strength. Thanks to Leigh and Jon for
covering so admirably. Well done team!! |

Lost 4-5 |
Team: Kwai & Chris (1-2), Roy &
Mark
(2-1), Terry & John (1-2)
Unfortunately the Chairman had to drop out during the warm up (nothing
to do with the Captain’s insult, something about being 3-0 down ) so a
valuable reserve, John, was grabbed just before he could start a club
night game.
The match was a very tight affair and went down to the last 3 rubbers
but the magnificent effort, well that was what the pairs said, was not
quite enough and the final result was a loss 4-5. The visitors had a very
useful first pair and none of our pairs could really get close to them.
Overall a very decent effort.
Well played all and many thanks to John for standing in at the last
minute. |

Lost 3-6 |
Team: Matt & Chris (2-1), Roy &
Mark
(1-3), Terry & John (0-3)
Yet again Mens 2 had to call in reinforcements due to
injury and unavailability, thanks to John and Matt for helping out, and
Mark was feeling under the weather as well so I was not very optimistic.
And so it proved.
The result went the same way as in the previous
match, we lost, 6 – 3 this time against an Ernesford team who were out to
NOT make my night!!
Anyway all of the team tried their hardest and my
“banker pair” – Matt & Chris – well I think I said “banker pair”, could
not quite make it a full house losing their first rubber in three but
winning the other two. Roy & Mark worked extremely hard and were rewarded
in their last rubber by winning quite easily against the pair that downed
Matt & Chris’s colours. Terry & John did their best but unfortunately did
not trouble the scorer.
All in all the last two matches were against two of
the teams who will be battling for promotion so could be expected. Thanks
to all of the team for their efforts. |

Games were 17-7 and points 480-410 and 10 of the games we lost were 21-17
or closer including 2 which were 23-21, so we made them work very hard for
the win.
It looks likely we will
be safe but it would be nice if we could win the rest of our matches.
I would just like to thanks Ryan for carrying me in
our games. |
