This was always going to be a tough match
as the team we were playing were the closest to us in the league. With
our current track record of winning 6 out of 6,it was going to be a much
needed win to secure our place at the top of the division. After winning
at Ernsford away from home before Christmas by the narrowest of margins
this was our toughest match to date.
Ernsford 2's,according to the match
tables in December had only lost 1 match and that was against us. So if
we won this one it should mean us winning the league with 2 still to
play.
No pressure then!!!!!!!!!!!
Well an old partnership bought back
together again as Louise was not available for this match and Jo was at
hand to step in for us.Penny + Jo got off to a shaky start taking time
to get into the swing of things and after being 4-12 down they suddenly
remembered how to play properly winning the game 15-12. the next game
went our way to seal the 1st rubber.
Debbie + Joan went on court but found it
too tough losing both games.
1 all.
Penny + Jo played against the 2 pair and
won convincingly to 4 and 6.
D+J lost against ernsford 1st pair so it
was all square going into the split.
Penny + Joan were 1st split and found it
hard going. Not knowing how the other pair were doing we found ourselves
1 game all.
Debbie+jo had won theirs so the pressure
was all on us to get the result we had set out to do.
We had a discussion on how we were going
to beat this pair and we agreed that Joan would serve short and kill
anything at the net leaving Penny at the back. This worked well as we
quickly found ourselves 6-1 up. They carried on the fine form winning
the rubber to 5. 4-2 being the final result
Securing the win means we win
the league ;-0)
A fantastic team result and a very well
done to all the ladies who have played this season.
