3 CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT – GRAHAM CHILVERS
Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all the committee members for
their efforts over the last year, and it would be remiss of me not to thank
them personally. Firstly thanks to Julie for all of her efforts as Secretary
and keeping us organised with the Team packs and all of the e-mails keeping
us informed about League positions. Secondly to Phil in his third year as
Match Secretary, another very well organised season. And last but certainly
not least to Joan for sterling as Treasurer, it’s not an easy job but every
club needs somebody to undertake the task. Thanks also go to the Team
Captains, well done to you all. And finally thanks very much to all members
for their efforts over the year, without you there would not be a club.
Well another season has come to an end. I hope that most of you had an
enjoyable, if hard, season. This season has seen a number of “firsts” –
Mixed 1 playing for the first time in Premier. It just shows the improvement
that has been achieved in the fact that this team are now disappointed when
they lose a match, whereas before the season started they were sure that
they would not win any matches. They have in fact won 3 matches during the
season a remarkable season all things considered. Mixed 3 have also had a
remarkable season – aided by the arrival of Tim and have won Division 5,
well done everyone. Last but by no means least Mens 1 have won Division 2 to
once again move up to Division 1, hopefully to stay there next year.
We also had some other success in that 4 of our members captured the CET Cup
for the second year running, namely the “pajamas” - Penny, Jo, Matt and
Steve Best. Well done to you all. I will say that it is unlikely that you
will win it next year – I think the handicapping may be slightly harder!!!!
But I would like to say a thank you to everybody in the club for all of
their efforts, and here’s to next season.
4 TREASURER’S REPORT – JOAN FULLER
Owed two free nights and two cloakroom nights £100. Subs should be kept the
same as there is enough in the account. (£85, and £95 for new members).
Two bills outstanding – one for shuttles and one for Kenilworth Hall Hire.
5. TEAM CAPTAIN’S REPORTS
Ladies (Captain - Joan)
Started with quite a few players to choose from but struggled due to
injuries. Came 5th Won 2, Drew 2, Lost 7 not easy. Thank you all who played,
hopefully have a team next year.
Mens 1 (Captain - Phil) [PROMOTED]
Won 11, Lost 1. Phil and Steve lost only two rubbers all season – well done.
Thanks to Roy for filling in at short notice. 1st Division here we come!
Mens 2 (Captain – Bob)
Not best season. Won 4, Lost 6. A total of 13 players, thanks to all who
played.
Mixed 1 (Captain - Penny)
Very difficult year, first match got hammered 9-0 at Jubilee. Won 3, rumour
has it we will stay up. Thanks to all who played. Well done team.
Mixed 2 (Captain – Harry)
Hard season - consolidated
Mixed 3 (Captain - John) [PROMOTED]

Peg Board – GC
On a number of occasions during the year it has been brought to my attention
that the peg board is being abused. I do not want to go into specifics but
would like to STRESS AGAIN that the rules are there to adhere to. The rule
is 4 from the next 6 on a match night and 4 from 8 on non-match nights. The
principle of the club is to mix people up, it is club night after all and
not just for the stronger players to play all night together!!!!! If things
do not improve then I would suggest that we amend the system in some way but
I hope that we do not have to make any adjustments – please can everybody be
aware of the problems that this can cause. If anybody has a problem then
please bring it to the attention of the Chair for discussion/resolution. I
will be providing a specific peg which will be used to identify the 6 or 8
from which the next game is to be picked from.
Tricia Harbour – a long standing member is moving house and leaving the
club. Tricia wished to say thanks I’m going out on a high!.
Roy wished to thank Graham on behalf of the Club for his work over the year.
The meeting closed at 9.05
